The Scottish Pan-Disability Open 2017

The Sidey & Caledonia Open - St Andrews, Scotland


Playing for the Sidey & Caledonia Cup's, the 6th Scottish Pan-Disability Open Golf Championship is a European ranking event.  The Open will run from Monday 21 through to Thursday 24 August inclusive.  Monday 21 is a practice round for all competitors and the competition will run from Tuesday 22 to Thursday 24 August, played over 54-holes, 18-holes per day.  Golf will be played on two courses, the Torrance, will host golfers with handicaps of 18.4 and under, while the Kittocks, will host the 18.5 and above golfers.

 

Open Timings

 

Monday 21 August.  10:0012:00.  Clubhouse Registration.  Payment of entry fee (£30) required before play.  The Provost of Fife, Jim Leishmen has provided a small gift for all golfers and coaches.

Monday 21 august.  12:00-14:00.  ADLF Driving Range Clinic for beginners and pre-booked golfers.  Stephen Gethins MP will attend, alongwith EDGA and ADLF representatives

Monday 21 August.  13:00.  1st T, Yellow Markers, both courses.  Practice round.  A draw will be handed out to all players at Registration.  Players who have booked and paid for a golf cart with the Fairmont, can pick them up at the Clubhouse Pro-shop.  Score cards, local rules and pin positions will be handed out to golfers at the 1st T, on both courses.  By arrangement with the Pro-shop staff, golf clubs may be left at the Clubhouse.  Golf bags must be clearly marked with golfers names/details.  Post golf meal orders will also be taken on the 1st T, and the meal will be provided in the Rock n Spindle in the main Hotel, directly following the golf.

 

Tuesday 22 August.  10:30.  1st T, Yellow Markers, both courses.   Open Round 1.  The draw for Round 1 will be as the practice round.  Golf cart and club storage is by arrangement through the Clubhouse Pro-shop.  Score cards, local rules and pin positions will be handed out to golfers at the 1st T, on both courses.  Post golf meal orders will be taken on the 1st T, and the meal will be provided in the Clubhouse, directly following the golf.  The draw for Round 2 will be issued later this evening.

 

Wednesday 23 August.  10:00.  1st T, Yellow Markers, both courses.   Open Round 2.  Ms Aileen Campbell MSP, from “Active Scotland” will attend, representing the Scottish Government, to meet officials, golfers and coaches.  Golf cart and club storage is by arrangement through the Clubhouse Pro-shop.  Score cards, local rules and pin positions will be handed out to golfers at the 1st T, on both courses.  Post golf meal orders will be taken on the 1st T, and the meal will be provided in the Clubhouse, directly following the golf.  The Provost of Fife Jim Leishman, will provide an additional dessert course for golfers and guests.  The draw for Round 3 will be issued later this evening.

 

Thursday 24 August.  09:00.  1st T, Yellow Markers, both courses.   Open Round 3.  Golf cart and club storage is by arrangement through the Clubhouse Pro-shop.  Score cards, local rules and pin positions will be handed out to golfers at the 1st T, on both courses.  Post golf meal orders will be taken on the 1st T, and the meal will be provided in the Clubhouse, directly following the golf.  The Provost of Fife Jim Leishman, will provide an additional dessert course for golfers and guests.  The prize presentation will take place on the conclusion of the final round and calculation of all scores.

Open Notes

 

1  All entry fees must be paid, in cash, (£) Sterling during Registration, on Monday 21 August.

 

2  Suitable golfing attire is required at all times.  No jeans, T-shirts or other sporting colours are acceptable on the course or in the Clubhouse.

 

3  Gents will play from the Yellow, and Ladies from the Red markers on both the Torrance and the Kittocks courses for all four rounds.  In the event of tied scores after the 54-hole competition, on both courses, there will be a card play off. 

 

4  The SDGP will not accept requests, or arrange tee times for any players during the Open. An open draw will be made each day and all golfers will be deliberately mixed with players from any country.  this includes the practice round.

 

5  Recognised golf handicap certificates must be provided at Registration.   Players failing to provide a certificate, will play from scratch.

 

6  Two qualified Referees, provided through Scottish Golf, will circulate both courses during the event and utilise the Rules of Golf and thos Modified Rules for Golfers with Disabilities as provided by the R&A.

 

7  Scottish Disability Golf, with support from Scottish Golf Limited, is providing an Edinburgh Airport pick up for non-UK players attending the Open.  The transport will run on Sunday 20 August, Monday 21 August (a.m. only), Thursday 24 August (after 18:00) and Friday 25 August.  Full travel times must be forwarded to Scottish Disability Golf, at least two weeks before your travel day.  No other Airport transport arrangements will be made outside these indicated dates/times.

 

8  Transport between the Hotel entrance and the Clubhouse is available.  The shuttle will run for one hour before the first tee each day and between the Clubhouse and the Hotel entrance, for one hour after the last group have left the course.  Golfers must book this shuttle by contacting the Clubhouse Pro-shop or the Concierge on the day of play.

 

9  The Fairmont has a complimentary guest shuttle bus service, running from the hotel front entrance to St Andrews, every sixty minutes on the hour from 09:00 until 18:00.  The return journey to the Fairmont, runs from fifteen minutes after each hour from the British Golf Museum and twenty minutes after each hour from opposite the Byre Theatre, abbey Street, with the last pick up at 17:20.  Please note this complimentary service is provided on a first come, first served basis.  Seating is limited, with no wheelchair access.

 

10  Hotel check-in is at 15:00 and check-out is by 12:00.  Breakfasts are served from 06:30 in the Hotel for all Fairmont residents in the Squire area of the Atrium. .Anyone wishing to take advantage of the Spa facilities, should book and pay for them in advance of their arrival.   

 

11  A grass practice range, pitching and putting area, is situated adjacent to the clubhouse, where tokens for golf balls can be purchased at your conveenience.

 

12  A Clinic, sponsored by the Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation, will run at the Fairmont Range from 12:00 until aroun 14:00, on Monday 21 August only and will be operated by the SDGP, EDGA and local PGA Teaching Professionals.  Any existing SDGP, EDGA member, or beginner to the game, are welcome to attend.  Just send a brief message via the Contact Form on this page and we will add your name.

 

13  The Fairmont has offered Open participants their preferred taxi service.  This taxi service will provide good rates for travel in and around town.  The number is 0133 44 777 88.
