Any Questions or Problems?

Representatives from European and UK governing bodies will be in attendance at the Scottish Open, so if any players have queries or issues re disabled golf, then you will catch up with most of them at the Fairmont.  Mark Taylor of the PGA and EDGA will be there, as will Mark Smith of the EDGA Medical Committee, alongwith Colin Bell and Gavin Dunn from Scottish Golf, on Monday 21 August.  Have your questions ready!?

New sponsors

The finale to the SDGP 2017 season and the Scottish Order of Merit Championship, will be held at Scotscraig & St Michaels Golf Clubs, in Fife in early October.   Two new trophy sponsors have joined the SDGP for the ‘Fife Classic’ event.  They are Hot Stuff Gas and Fife Properties and we welcome them and thank them for their support!

The 2-day event will be the 15th & 16th qualifying competitions for this years Merit Tables and will see the 2017 Champion crowned after the season-long challenge.  Currently, with three rounds to completion, Robert Inness of Dumfries leads, with John Pennycott of the Isle of Arran, tucked in behind and Adam Storrie of Fauldhouse in third, but enough points are available for big changes to happen?

MSP &  MP attend the Open?

Stephen Gethins MP, tabled an Early Day Motion on behalf of the SDGP, regarding the Scottish Pan-Disability Open Golf Championship at St Andrews.  The full submission can be found here.  Also, Aileen Campbell MSP, of the ‘Active Scotland’ Division of the Scottish Government, will be attending the Scottish Open at the Fairmont.  She will be there on the second day of the competition to meet some of the officials and competitors playing on the Torrance and Kittocks Courses.

Many congratulations to the winners of the Scottish Disability Golf Championship for 2017, after two days golf in Edinburgh, over the Dalmahoy and Duddingston Golf Courses.

Only one shower of rain on day one interrupted play and day two saw the suncream being applied vigorously.  Many thanks go to the two golf clubs for their generosity, warm welcome and splendid golf courses.

All but two of the overnight leaders let their game slip, so top 10 places after the 36 holes were: Alan Robertson the new Scottish Champion, with 69 points.  John Irvine with 66, Alan Douglas also 66 losing out on the back 9.  John Pennycott also shott 66 to take 4th.   5th was Billy Cairns, followed by Trevor Crombie, Robert Innness, Jim Gales, Derek Milne and Jim Hamill.  Next up   THE OPEN!!!
